Luton man, in his 80s, in cash machine 'ordeal'

CCTV images have been released after a man, in his 80s, was subjected to a "nasty ordeal" and forced to drive to cash machines to withdraw money.

The victim was threatened after a man threw a brick through his window in Lawn Gardens, Luton, about 06:40 GMT on Saturday, police said.

The offender demanded money from the man and then made him drive to cash machines at Luton Parkway Station and Santander, in the town's George Street.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The man was unable to withdraw any money.

Det Con Alan Boxall, from Bedfordshire Police, said: "This was a nasty ordeal where an elderly man was forced to drive to cashpoints in a bid to get him to withdraw money for the offender.

"We're keen to speak to the man pictured on CCTV as we believe he might have important information to assist our investigation."
