Raymond Page: Cancer sufferer stabbed Filipino partner to death
A cancer sufferer stabbed to death his partner of 25 years at the home they shared.
Raymond Page, 64, admitted killing Natividad Nituan, 70, at their one-bedroom maisonette in Orchard Close, Radlett, Hertfordshire, on 25 July.
Appearing via video link at St Albans Crown Court, Page pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Filipino national Ms Nituan on grounds of diminished responsibility.
He will be sentenced on 9 January.
Judge Andrew Bright QC asked for a medical report on the state of Page's cancer and said a consultant forensic psychiatrist had recommended he be sentenced under the Mental Health Act.
Page called police and the ambulance service to the couple's home just after 09:00 BST on the morning Ms Nituan was found dead.
He pleaded not guilty to murder via video link from Peterborough Prison, which was accepted by prosecutor Peter Shaw.
Mr Shaw said: "In light of the defendant's psychiatric state, the plea is acceptable to the Crown."
Philip Evans, defending, said Mr Page was due to be transferred from prison to a hospital in Norwich for treatment.
