A driver who hit a telegraph pole, killing his passenger, has admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

Kyle McCants, 21, was in the Alfa Romeo when it crashed near Wyevale Garden Centre, Binfield, Bracknell, in February 2010. He died at the scene.

Galen Hull, 26, from Wychdell, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court and will be sentenced on 10 March.

Mr McCants' family said he possessed an "extraordinary passion for life".

The barman, from Binfield, was born in Texas in the US, before holding a Canadian passport from the age of three.

He became a British citizen in 2009, his family said.

In a statement, they said he was "very proud" to be a part of all three countries, but his loyalty was demonstrated by his firm decision to remain in the UK.
