A woman has been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a mother died following a crash where a car hit a bus stop.

Catriona Scott, 44, from Caversham, was waiting in Briants Avenue, Caversham, along with her 12-year-old son when the Toyota Rav 4 hit the shelter on Monday.

She was taken to hospital but died on Tuesday. Her son is "recovering well" in a specialist unit, police said.

A 34-year-old local woman was arrested on Thursday and released on bail.

Police said they were keen to trace a potential witness who was described as "a white lady with white hair, wearing a blue coat with a motif on the chest".
