Reading shopping centres to be revitalised

Twelve Berkshire shopping centres are to be revitalised in a scheme to boost neighbourhood trading.

Litter, graffiti and weeds will be removed and street furniture repaired in 12 areas in and around Reading.

The borough council, which is leading the project, will also ask traders to clean up any land they are responsible for.

Audits of the sites will take place throughout the year until September.

Shopping areas at the junction of The Meadway and Dee Road and at the junction of Basingstoke Road and Buckland Road have already been cleaned up.

Other sites earmarked for improvement include shops at Christchurch Road, Church Street, The Triangle, Wokingham Road, Whitley Street and Coronation Square.
