New Bracknell health centre plans approved

Plans for a new £20m health centre in Berkshire have been approved.

Bracknell Forest Council gave the go-ahead for the one-stop centre at the Skimped Hill site in Bracknell.

Berkshire East Primary Care Trust plans to build the centre, called Healthspace, to provide urgent care as well as routine medical services.

It is hoped the new facility will take the pressure off accident and emergency centres. It could be up and running in 2012.

The centre would provide GP surgeries, urgent care and outpatients services.

Podiatrists, physiotherapists, audiologists and dentists would also be based at the site, along with diagnostics and mental health services.
