A 12-year-old Reading girl is hoping to be the next child star after attracting the interest of an acclaimed producer.

Sazz, real name Sarah de Schoolmeester, may follow in the footsteps of Dionne Bromfield, who was signed to Amy Winehouse's label aged only 13.

And Charlotte Church was only 11 when she got her big singing career break.

Sazz's track Not Easy was produced by Stuart Epps, who has co-produced and worked with Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Chris Rea and Bill Wyman.

"My mum got in touch with him and within about 20 minutes he'd replied," said Sazz.

"I've always loved singing and it's escalated from there. It's just suddenly sprouted and burst."

Sazz recorded the song at Stuart Epps' studio in Cookham, Berkshire.

"She was just a bit phenomenal really," said Mr Epps, who recently produced Chris De Burgh's single Lonely Sky.

"For someone that age to have such a brilliant voice, the quality is something you can't fake".

Sazz has been performing since she was seven-years-old and thanks her musician mother for providing essential experience in the music world.

"It's always been an on-the-road lifestyle," she said.

"It's good to grow up around somebody who knows all this stuff."

Sazz is going to continue writing and has another track, Superman, in the pipeline.

She said: "Hopefully soon we'll have an album."

Sazz is next performing at Ploughfest at The Plough, School Road, Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire at 1400 BST on Sunday 29 May.
