The Band of the Royal Engineers will be performing in the Market Place in Newbury on Thursday 30 June from 1230 to 1330 BST in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.

French-Algerian guitarist Pierre Bensusan will play world music at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Wednesday 29 June. The performance will take place at 1930 BST at the arts venue in Altwood Road, Maidenhead. Tickets cost £12.

Enjoy a weekly open mic night with all styles of acoustic music taking place in the front Bar at Jagz in Ascot. The night will start at 2000 BST on Tuesday 28 June, and admission to the venue in Station Hill is free.


Artsfest 2011, a celebration of arts in Berkshire, will run from Monday 27 June to Thursday 30 June. The event is billed as four days of dance, contemporary, jazz and classical music, circus, magic, art, poetry, comedy, film and film making workshops, theatrical activities and workshops and a craft fair. The festival will take place at Wellington College in Crowthorne. Highlights include poet Roger McGough and comedian Shappi Khorsandi.

An Indonesian Dance Celebration will be held at Oakfield School, Windsor on Saturday 2 July. It will include performances by 20 traditional dancers. There will also be 17 stalls selling authentic Indonesian cuisine and handicrafts, a DJ and a raffle with the proceeds going to The Red Cross in aid of those in Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami. A percentage of profits will go to Indonesian charities.

Enjoy an evening with Gervaise Phinn at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Altwood Road, Maidenhead on Thursday 28 June from 2000 BST. Mr Phinn will share tales of his life as a school inspector in the Yorkshire Dales. Tickets cost £15.


Join a warden or a member of the Reading and district natural history society for a nature walk around The National Trust's Basildon Park on Friday 1 July. The walk will take place between 1030 BST and midday. Booking is not needed.

Head to the Bubbles and Balloons show at the Look Out Discovery Centre in Bracknell, RG12 7QW, on Saturday 2 July at 1100 BST, midday, 1400 BST and 1515 BST subject to minimum numbers. Cost is £1.85 in addition to the entrance fee for the Hands-on Science and Nature Exhibition.

Enjoy a picnic or a regatta party at Remenham Farm during Henley Royal Regatta from Tuesday 28 June to Sunday 3 July. Visit the Barn Bar, reserve a riverside parking and picnic spot by the river, watch the start of the racing from the start enclosure (free) which is ideal for families, or join the regatta party at the Courtyard Enclosure.
