Girl sexually assaulted in Maidenhead street

A 16-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted in Maidenhead in Berkshire.

The teenager and her friend were at the corner of Grenfell Road and Bath Road on Saturday night when they were approached by a man.

He spoke to them before sexually assaulting one of them.

The man is described as aged in his 20s or early 30s, of medium height, muscular and with blonde or mousey hair.

He was casually dressed in a T-shirt and jeans or trousers.

Patrols stepped up

Insp Ian Smith said: "The victim was left understandably shaken, but did not require hospital treatment."

He said she was being looked after by officers and house-to-house inquiries were being carried out in the area.

Insp Smith added: "I'd like to reassure people that we are doing all we can to find the person responsible and urge anyone with information to come forward.

"We're particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the girls talking to a man on the corner of Grenfell Road and Bath Road.

"Uniformed officers will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area."
