Teenage cyclist seriously injured in Purley crash

A teenage boy was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after his bicycle collided with a car in Berkshire.

The blue Honda CR-V collided with the the 13-year-old as he was cycling on Roebuck Rise towards Oxford Road in Purley at 16:00 BST on Monday.

The boy suffered severe abdominal injuries and was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

He remains in a serious but stable condition. The 74-year-old driver of the Honda was uninjured.

PC Melonie Powell, of Thames Valley Police, said: "We would ask anyone who saw the incident to please get in touch with us."
