Reading sex assaults and burglary: Police warning

Police are urging people to secure their homes at night following reports of sexual assault and burglary in the Redlands area of Reading.

Officers were called to a property after reports of a burglary at around 5:30 BST on Saturday.

Two women, aged 20 and 21, reported that they were sexually assaulted during the incident.

Police said they were looking for an Asian man in his late teens, of stocky build and wearing a hooded top.

The offender fled the scene through the garden of the property after he was disturbed.

Det Ch Insp Matt Healey said: "The details around the exact nature of the offence are still being investigated.

"I appreciate that with the hot weather we are experiencing there is a temptation for people to leave windows and doors open at night, but we would advise people to keep windows and doors secured at all times."
