Eleven in court over disorder in Reading

Eleven people, aged between 16 and 39, have appeared in court charged in connection with disorder in Reading.

The incidents happened at the Makro store in Elgar Road South early on Wednesday.

The individuals, from Tilehurst, Reading and Whitley, are all charged with burglary and violent disorder.

They appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court. The majority were remanded in custody. The hearings continued into the evening.

There was increased security at the court throughout the day.

Family and friends of the defendants had to pass through a heavy police presence to reach the court.
