One man has been arrested on suspicion of ticket touting and eight others moved on by police, as this year's Reading Festival gets under way.

Thames Valley Police were allowed to use dispersal orders to deal with potential troublemakers after fires were started at the 2009 event.

They said they would use their powers against any "aggressive" ticket touts.

Reading Festival starts on Friday but "early bird" campers can pitch tents from 18:00 BST.

Organisers are urging people not to buy tickets from unauthorised venues.

Thames Valley Police will be tweeting from the festival all weekend with information about dispersals, arrests and crime prevention advice from their Reading Festival Twitter account.

The festival is sold out and features such acts as Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp.
