Reported crime halved at Reading Festival, police say

The number of reported crimes at Reading Festival fell by more than 50% compared with last year's event.

About 150 incidents had been reported by 17:30 BST on Sunday, compared with 327 in 2010, Thames Valley Police said.

Most reports involved thefts from tents. Nearly 80 arrests were made for possession of drugs, theft, assault and selling fake wristbands.

Police were given extra powers to deal with potential troublemakers after fires were started at the 2009 event.
