Windsor's A308 Albert Road to be resurfaced

A major road that links Windsor and Old Windsor has been scheduled to be resurfaced over the weekend of 7 to 10 October.

The A308 Albert Road is used by about 20,000 vehicles every day and forms part of the route from the M25 to Windsor and Legoland.

The work has already been rescheduled a number of times over concerns about the disruption it would cause.

Councillors say repairs to the damaged surface can not be delayed any longer.

Phill Bicknell, cabinet member for highways at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, said: "Unfortunately this work will inevitably impact on traffic between Windsor and Old Windsor.

"I apologise in advance for any disruption caused but this work absolutely has to be carried out - we cannot allow the road to reach a point where it is dangerous to use."

Albert Road will be closed to traffic from 19:00 BST on Friday 7 October to 07:00 on Monday 10 October.

A 13-mile signed diversion will be in place via Ascot and Englefield Green.
