Schoolgirl, 15, raped on canal towpath in Slough

A 15-year-old girl has been raped in Berkshire.

Police said the victim was walking along a canal towpath in Slough on Sunday evening when she was attacked.

The assault happened alongside the Grand Union Canal, off Uxbridge Road, near Goodman Park and Rochford Gardens, at about 21:15 BST.

Thames Valley Police said the attacker is described as a black man, aged 19 or 20, about 5ft 7ins tall and of large build.

Officers said the attack was reported on Monday evening.

Det Insp Nicky Hurdley, leading the investigation, said: "This was an understandably traumatic ordeal for the victim and she is being looked after by specially trained officers."

Neighbourhood officers are carrying out extra patrols to reassure residents.
