Woman's skull fractured in Maidenhead underpass theft

A woman suffered a fractured skull and had her bag stolen in an underpass in Berkshire, police have said.

The 28-year-old was injured as she walked through the tunnel off Silco Drive in Maidenhead at about 18:30 GMT on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police said she was in a serious but stable condition in hospital but it was not yet clear how she sustained her head injury.

Detectives are treating the incident as robbery.

The suspect, who was chased by another member of the public, is described as white, 6ft to 6ft 1in tall, in his early to mid 20s, of a big, strong build, with a prominent bone structure and a square jaw.

He was clean shaven and wearing a black canvas jacket, which was long enough to cover his hips, a black woollen hat and blue jeans.
