Man charged over Isle of Wight church altar blaze

An Isle of Wight man has been charged following an investigation into reports of arson at a Carisbrooke church.

The altar was set on fire and two crucifixes were stolen from St Mary the Virgin on 27 November in the third attack in recent months.

Kevin Lee Williams, 23, of Downsview, Sandown, has been charged with arson.

He was bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 3 January. A man aged 28 and a 15-year-old boy, both from Newport were also bailed.

Three men were released without charge.
