A rapist from Berkshire who repeatedly attacked a teenager over a three-year period has been jailed for 18 years.

David Ward, 44, abused his victim when she was aged between 13 and 16 years old, from 2007 to 2010.

Ward, of Meadow Way in Theale, was convicted of eight counts of rape and two counts of sexual activity with a child, at Reading Crown Court.

The defendant had denied the attacks but he was found guilty of the offences after a week-long trial.

Det Con Stuart May, of the child abuse investigations unit based in Reading, said: "David Ward is a dangerous sex offender and the abuse he carried out on his young victim was abhorrent.

"I hope this case demonstrates that all reports of sexual abuse are taken seriously and will be investigated by Thames Valley Police."
