Reading supermarket fuel theft tackled

Police officers in Berkshire have been carrying out checks on motorists at a supermarket filling station in an attempt to reduce drive-off thefts.

Drivers using Morrisons in Reading - where 12 "bilking" incidents were reported in December and January - were asked to produce their receipts.

Officers also carried out extra checks on drivers who forgot their wallets.

PC Mike Wray said officers would continue the operation at the forecourt in the coming weeks.
