Man arrested after woman stabbed in Reading

A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in the stomach in Berkshire, police have said.

The victim, thought to be in her 40s, knocked on a neighbour's house in Church End Lane, Reading, at about 07:40 GMT.

A man found injured at the victim's property has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police said he was believed to be the victim's partner.

Both the victim and the man were taken to hospital for treatment.

The woman has serious abdominal injuries and the man was suffering breathing difficulties.

Large police presence

Det Ch Insp Matt Healey, of Thames Valley Police, said: "We are clearly in the very early stages of our investigation and are working hard to understand what has happened.

"At this time we believe that some form of dispute has taken place inside the property involving the two people currently detained in hospital.

"There is a large police presence in this area of Tilehurst at this time and the scene has been cordoned off whilst we conduct our enquiries."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Thames Valley Police.
