Man found in Windsor Castle grounds charged with trespass

A man has been charged with trespass after he was found within the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The 32-year-old man, from County Tipperary, was found in the grounds of the Queen's Berkshire residence in the early hours of 6 November 2011.

He has been bailed to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday 23 March.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the Queen was not in residence at the time.

A lawyer from the CPS said on Saturday she had authorised police to charge the man with trespassing on a designated site, an offence under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.
