Berkshire residents told to watch flood alerts

Residents in a number of areas of Berkshire were warned they may be subject to flooding on Tuesday.

Six flood alerts were issued across the county by the Environment Agency.

They included Emm Brook, the River Thames from Mapledurham to Sonning, and the Lower River Lodden at Twyford.

A spokesman said river levels would respond to the recent rain and people should keep checking the Environment Agency flood warnings website .

Reading Borough Council said that two houses in Ivydene Road in the town were at risk of sewage flooding which spilled out onto the road.

Council officers provided sand bags for houses under threat.
