Reading Dementia Cafe 'will offer support'
A cafe offering support to people with dementia and their families has launched in Reading.
The Dementia Cafe in Christchurch Gardens will open on the third Thursday of every month.
Reading Borough Council has opened the service with the help of the Alzheimer's Society.
It will provide help and information in a "sociable and supportive atmosphere," Mike Orton, councillor for adult social care, said.
"I am sure that the Dementia Cafe will prove to be a valuable resource for residents with dementia and will provide support for their carers who do such an admirable job looking after them," he added.
Lynn Chandler, support services manager at the Alzheimer's Society in Berkshire, said carers and family members would be able to decide on what they wanted from the cafe.
