Reading IDR car crash seriously injures young boy

A four-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was knocked down by a car in Reading.

A black Smart car hit the boy on the town's Inner Distribution Road (IDR) by the Friar Street entrance at about 17:30 BST on Friday.

The boy suffered "serious internal injuries", police said, and was taken to the town's Royal Berkshire Hospital.

He is due to be transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further treatment.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses.
