Police in witness appeal after man hit by car in Ascot

Police are renewing appeals for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a collision in Berkshire.

The 24-year-old London man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a blue VW Golf R32 in Ascot early on Sunday morning.

He was walking close to the Esso garage on the High Street before the collision at 03:20 BST.

Four men from Slough arrested on suspicion of attempted murder continue to be questioned in police custody.

Police believe the victim may have been involved in a fight with a group of men earlier in the evening at the Club One nightclub.

Police said the incident appeared to have been "isolated" and between two different groups who were "not known to each other previously" who were visiting Ascot on a night out.

Ch Insp Gill Wootton, from Thames Valley Police, said: "We would urge anyone who was in the club in the early hours and who may have witnessed this or who was in Ascot High Street at the time of the incident and saw the collision to please contact us."
