Waltham St Lawrence traveller site deadline reached

Travelling families living on an unauthorised Berkshire site have reached the deadline date for leaving.

Last month the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead issued a 28-day notice ordering travellers to leave Five Oaks Farm in Waltham St Lawrence.

The council said it will "take direct action to clear the land if they do not leave voluntarily".

About 40 people live on the site and Gypsy Council chair Joseph Jones said they are seeking a judicial review.

The council said it will be ready to clear the site soon, and the travellers will be given at least 48 hours' notice before the clearance takes place.
