Man arrested for suspected hare coursing in Hungerford

A man has been arrested on suspicion of hare coursing after three people and a dog "covered in blood" were spotted in a field in Berkshire.

Police said three men were seen walking near Wantage Road in Hungerford with lurcher-type dogs on Monday afternoon.

A passerby approached their vehicle and attempted to block them in. Two men ran off, but one remained in the field.

Officers later arrested a 25-year-old from Cardiff. Several dogs and a vehicle were seized.

The man has been released on bail until 16 October.

Hare coursing is illegal in the UK under the Hunting Act 2004, which took effect from 18 February 2005.
