Students from Reading University's Real Ale society have carried on the town's brewing tradition by creating their own beer with a local micro-brewery.
The beer, called Extra Curricular, will be sold in two of the university's student bars and one Reading pub this week.
The first cask, 72 pints in total, sold out at the university's bar on its inaugural appearance on Friday.
Students worked with Sherfield Village Brewery to create the beer.
The micro-brewery in the nearby Hampshire village of Sherfield on Loddon was set up in 2011.
Reading has a long brewing history, dating back to Simonds' Brewery in Broad Street in 1785.
The original Simonds' Brewery merged with Courage in 1960 and operated out of Reading until Scottish & Newcastle closed its Berkshire Brewery Operations in early 2010.
