A five-year-old girl has died after collapsing at a school in Berkshire.

Emergency services were called to Willow Bank Infant School, Duffield Road, Woodley, on Thursday afternoon.

The girl was in a "life threatening condition" when treated at the school by an air ambulance crew. She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Berkshire Hospital where she later died.

Thames Valley Police said the death was "currently unexplained" but "not believed to be suspicious".

The school, which remained open on Friday, said pupils and staff were being offered support.

A spokesman added: "We are deeply saddened to report that one of our children passed away. Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends at this tragic time."
