A man has admitted dragging a woman from a phone box and raping her 26 years ago.

After the attack in Reading, Peter Holder forced the 30-year into his car and drove her two miles away before releasing her.

The 48-year-old, from Tippett Rise in the town, pleaded guilty to three charges of rape, indecent assault and kidnap at Reading Crown Court.

He is due to be sentenced there on 12 September.

Holder was 22 when he approached his victim in Watlington Street, Reading, on the evening of 5 March 1988.

He led her away by force, raped her, then drove her to nearby Shinfield, where he let her go.

Thames Valley Police arrested and charged him on 20 May after the case was investigated by the force's Major Crime Review Team.
