A man has been raped after accepting a lift in Reading.

The 24-year-old got into a silver Ford car with a man in Oxford Road, near Tesco Express, in the early hours of Sunday.

The car travelled to the Norcot Road roundabout where the driver stopped at the Shell garage and bought a drink.

He then drove to a wooded area near the Tylers Rest pub by the entrance to the Potteries housing estate in Tilehurst where the victim was attacked.

Thames Valley Police said the suspect is described as having an eastern European accent and aged about 35 to 40 years old.

The car is thought to be either a Ford Fiesta or Focus.
