A rapist has been jailed for eight years for attacking an 18-year-old woman in 1988.

Jimmy Dyer, formally known as Gary Dyer, of St Georges Street, Northampton, admitted one count of rape at Reading Crown Court in September.

The woman was on her way home from a night out in Reading when her taxi took a wrong turn, so she decided to walk.

Dyer, 54, then grabbed her from behind and raped her in the front garden of a house in Heathfield Avenue.
