Woman's condition 'critical' after Reading pavement crash

A woman suffered life-threatening injuries when a car mounted a pavement and hit her, another pedestrian and a wall.

The crash took place in Caversham Road, Reading, near the junction with Swansea Road, at about 21:00 GMT on Saturday.

The woman, in her 30s, suffered a head injury and is said to be in a critical condition.

Two men, aged 23 and 26 from Reading, have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and are in custody.

The other pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered serious leg and head injuries although they are not believed to be life-threatening.

He was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where he remains.
