Proposals to redevelop a park in Berkshire have gone on show.

Wokingham Borough Council wants to build new houses, shops, a hotel and a boutique cinema in Elms Field Park.

The revised plans feature a bigger park and a smaller supermarket, after a previous plan was withdrawn in 2013 following opposition from residents.

The council has started a four-week public consultation on the development before it submits a planning application.

The authority said it would use comments from the public to help it design the development.

Regeneration and communities councillor, Philip Mirfin, said: "Our plans are not as detailed as our previous scheme, we have done this for a reason, so that we can involve more people and at an earlier stage, in helping to shape final designs."

Facebook group, Keep Elms Field Green, has led the opposition against the proposals "on one of the last green spaces in the town".
