Proposed £22m Arborfield bypass route is approved

The route of a £22.6m bypass to ease congestion in a Berkshire village has been agreed by councillors.

The proposed new road, chosen from four options, will run from Arborfield Garrison, south of Arborfield Cross, to the A327 before Shinfield.

It comes as the authority approved a development of 3,500 homes and a 1,500-pupil secondary school.

Wokingham Borough Council said the bypass would help reduce the volume of traffic through the village.

The council will now prepare a full planning application.
