A man who murdered his wife before leaving her body on their kitchen floor while he went to work has been handed a life sentence.

Imran Sharif killed Raheela, 45, at their house in Hillersdon, Slough, in October.

At Reading Crown Court Sharif, 44, was told he must serve a minimum of 14 years and 9 months before he is considered for release.

He had pleaded guilty to murdering his wife of 17 years at an earlier court.

A post-mortem examination showed mother-of-four Mrs Sharif suffered a fatal wound to the neck.

In a statement, her family said: "We are like lost sheep without her and her four children have been orphaned.

"All we have left now are our memories. Imran Sharif took a part of our lives when he took Raheela from us. Life without Raheela will never be the same but she will never be forgotten."

Ch Insp Mike Lynch said: "I am glad that Sharif has accepted responsibility for what he did and admitted that he took his wife's life.

"I hope that the sentence Sharif has been given today will be of some help as they begin to rebuild their family's lives."
