An accountant who defrauded two companies of more than £1.8m has been jailed.

Evelyn Gore-Strachan was working at Reading firms Webtech Wireless and Britannia Pharmaceuticals when she committed the offences, Reading Crown Court heard.

She had been employed as an account and finance director at the companies.

The 41-year-old, who, admitted nine counts of fraud by abuse of position, was jailed for 12 years.

Thames Valley Police said Gore-Strachan, of Monarch Drive, Shinfield, had "abused her position to enrich herself and her associates".

Webtech Wireless was defrauded of about £809,000 between April 2008 and December 2012.

A fraud worth £1,000,614 was then committed against Britannia Pharmaceuticals between March 2013 and June 2015.
