Reading A33 central reservation bus lane plan unveiled

Plans for a new bus lane to run between the M4 and Reading will go on show to the public later.

Reading Borough Council is creating a lane in both directions along the A33, using the central reservation between junction 11 and Imperial Way.

The authority said the scheme, which ties in with the Mereoak Park and Ride, should ease traffic pressure and cut journey times.

The work, lasting three months, is due to start in the next few weeks.

The first phase of the scheme, costing £500,000, has been funded through Reading Borough Council's successful bid as part of the Thames Valley Berkshire LEP.

The council hopes to secure funding to run the bus lanes along the full length of the A33.

Members of the public have been asked to share their views on the plans, which are on display at The Hilton Hotel, Drake Way.
