Man, 48, fatally stabbed in Kingstanding store

A 48-year-old man has been found dead after a suspected attempted robbery at a store in north Birmingham.

Officers found the man with stab wounds in Select Convenience Store, College Road, Kingstanding, at 2150 GMT on Saturday.

Four men were seen running out of the shop, also known as Haresh Superstore, in the direction of Dovedale Road.

A man and a woman in their 20s from the Sutton Coldfield area have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The arrests were made at 0700 GMT on Sunday near the border of Sutton Coldfield and Kingstanding.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they treated a second patient at the scene for head injuries who was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Forensic officers have been at the store.

Acting Supt Richard Youds, from West Midlands Police, said: "At this stage, the motive for the attack seems to be robbery of the store.

"Four men were seen running from the shop just after the incident in the direction of Dovedale Road.

"We would like to speak to anyone who saw these men running from the store or anyone who has information that could lead to their identity ."

A post-mortem examination was expected to be carried out on Sunday.
