Nursery worker on serious sex assault charge remanded

A 20-year-old nursery worker has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with two counts of serious sexual assault against a child.

Paul Wilson, who worked at the Little Stars Nursery in Nechells, Birmingham, appeared before city magistrates.

Mr Wilson, of Newbold Croft, Nechells, faces two charges of serious sexual assault against a child between early 2009 and last summer.

He is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday 14 January.

The CPS said the charges related to one child.

No application for bail was made on Mr Wilson's behalf.

Mr Wilson, dressed in a dark hooded coat and blue jeans, bowed his head during the majority of the four-minute hearing.

The nursery, in Nechells Park Road, has been temporarily closed.

Mr Wilson was arrested at his home in the early hours of Wednesday.

West Midlands Police subsequently began an inquiry in relation to his employment at the nursery following the seizure of a computer from his home.
