Gang kidnaps jewellery shop owner

A jewellery shop owner has been kidnapped from his home by an armed gang who forced him to open up his store in the West Midlands.

Two members of the five-strong gang kept watch over the man's family as he was taken to his shop in Wellington Street in Dudley on Friday night.

Police said the victim, 41, was able to raise the alarm during the incident and was taken back to his home.

He was attacked with a hammer, causing injuries to his foot.

Cash and jewellery were stolen from the man's home in the raid at about 2130 BST.

The offenders fled in a white Ford van fitted with stolen number plates.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
