Body found at back of West Midlands supermarket

The body of a man has been found after a fire at the back of a Walsall supermarket.

Police and the fire service were called to the rear of Somerfield on Bloxwich Road in the Leamore area at about 1800 BST on Wednesday.

The death was being treated as unexplained at this stage, West Midlands Police said.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Thursday to establish the cause of death.

Det Insp Tom Chisholm said: "Detectives are continuing to work with the fire service to establish the cause of the fire, as well as the cause of death."

The road was closed for a short time but was reopened at about 2130 BST, police said.

The fire service said it was called at about 1820 BST and the fire, at the back of a petrol station, was under control within 10 minutes.
