More tests on badly-burned body in Walsall

Police investigating the discovery of a badly burned man's body in the Black Country have said they do not know who he was or what caused his death.

The body was found at the back of Somerfield supermarket, in the Leamore area of Walsall, at about 1800 BST on Wednesday.

A post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and further forensic tests are now being carried out.

The death is being treated as unexplained, West Midlands Police said.

Det Insp Bob Bradford added: "It is not yet clear exactly how this man died or whether there is any criminality involved either in his death or the cause of the fire.

"However, it is a matter of fact that he was badly burned and that we are still trying to identify him and trace his family so that we can gain a clearer picture of both his personal background and what happened."

Police are seeking three youths or young men who were walking along the pavement adjacent to the scene between about 1800 BST and 1815 BST.
