Smethwick shooting: Police receive limited information

Detectives investigating a shooting in the West Midlands say they have received "very limited information" from the public.

Two men, aged 28 and 31, were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after a firearm was discharged during a private event in Smethwick.

The incident happened at Woody's Autos, in Middlemore Road, on 24 July.

The 31-year-old has since been discharged but the 28-year-old remains in a stable condition in hospital.

'Working through CCTV'

Det Insp Gary Dring said: "We are continuing to make inquiries into Sunday night's events and urge people who were in attendance at Woody's Autos to come forward to assist us with our inquiry.

"We are currently working through CCTV from the scene and forensic examinations are taking place as part of the investigation, however we still need people to come forward to help us piece together the details of what occurred.

"We have received very limited information from the public to date and we urge anyone who was at the event to speak to us.

"All information can be given in confidence."
