Edgbaston pedestrian hit by motorbike dies

A pedestrian has died after he was hit by a motorbike in Birmingham.

The man suffered multiple injuries in the collision which happened on Hagley Road, in Edgbaston, at about 21:50 BST on Monday.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an incident support officer attended the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the motorcyclist was not injured but the pedestrian was confirmed dead at hospital.

He said: "On arrival at the crash, crews found a pedestrian and a motorcycle that had been in a serious collision.

"The pedestrian had suffered multiple serious injuries.

"The man received emergency treatment at the scene and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance on blue lights, whilst receiving further treatment en route.

"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews and hospital staff, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital."
