Hagley Road motorbike crash death boy was 16 years old

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a motorbike on a main route into Birmingham was a 16-year-old boy.

The incident occurred just before 1000 BST on Sunday outside Lordswood Boys' School on Hagley Road, in Edgbaston, police said.

The motorcyclist, on a Suzuki GSXR bike was travelling along the road from the direction of the city centre, when it collided with the boy.

The 39-year-old man from Brierley Hill, was uninjured but suffering from shock.

The boy was taken to hospital where was confirmed dead, the spokesman added.

Witnesses are asked to contact police.
