Police investigating the death of a 63-year-old man found dead inside a property are treating the incident as murder.

David McArthur was discovered in Woodbrooke Grove, Northfield, Birmingham, at about 13:30 BST on Monday.

The result of a post-mortem examination revealed Mr McArthur, from Northfield, died due to blunt force trauma.

His family said he "would never harm a fly".

In a tribute released by West Midlands Police, they said: "David was the nicest man you could wish to meet.

"We would urge anyone with information to come forward and contact the police."

The force said it was appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr McArthur between Friday 19 August and Monday to come forward.
