Solihull crash: 14-year-old boy killed in Lode Lane

A 14-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car in the West Midlands.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Lode Lane, in Solihull, at approximately 21:50 BST on Friday.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said the boy had suffered a "significant" head injury and went into cardiac arrest at the scene.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Heartlands Hospital by ambulance where medics confirmed he had died.

West Midlands Police is investigating the crash and has appealed for witnesses.

A force spokeswoman said the car involved was a Blue Audi.

She said the driver of the car has been interviewed but had not been arrested or charged at this stage.

The boy has not yet been officially named.
