Birmingham riots: Man charged over Barton Arms shooting
A 20-year-old man has appeared before magistrates charged over a shooting during riots in Birmingham.
Shots were fired at officers and a police helicopter near the Barton Arms pub in Aston on 9 August.
The man is charged with rioting, violent disorder, arson and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 13 October.
Another 20-year-old man arrested on Wednesday in connection with the incident has been released on bail pending further police inquiries.
Det Insp Andy Bannister, from West Midlands Police, said inquiries were ongoing and community response "has so far been very positive".
